My story: What’s at the heart of the 99%

It’s interesting to note I wrote this before all of this #OccupyWallStreet hullabaloo began. It’s the intro to my book. If some of you are struggling to understand why the movement has spread so quickly and attracted such a range of people perhaps this will shed some light on it.

My husband and I aren’t exactly poster children for the economic downturn that the United States began experiencing in 2008, but we’re pretty close to it.

LinkedIn is full of people like you – even late or non-social media adopters. No Facebook? No Twitter? Better believe they’re on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is the first resource for anyone with Google to find out about you and your business relations. That means recruiters are looking at it, and so are potential clients.

Personal branding. Buzzwords in the social media world for sure. Personal branding is the idea that you are your brand and building a career around it and your expertise. Dan Schawbel has undoubtedly built a career around the idea of personal branding.

Going into attack mode: Tales of a modern job search.

So after keeping busy this summer and trying to figure some things out I’ve decided I’m finally ready to go into my job search full-force. Where this road will lead me is yet to be determined, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. Many friends have been impressed with my ability to stay positive and bounce back from even some of the toughest challenges and I don’t think this time will be any different.

Knowing that many of you are either unemployed, or looking for a job while employed I thought I would share some of the tactics in my arsenal.
